About

KANATA CENTRAL BIA

The Kanata Central Business Improvement Area (BIA) was formed in 2017, with the purpose of representing and advocating for the business community in the area and helping to beautify and/or make improvements to the Kanata Central streetscape.

The Kanata Central BIA comprises more than 320 stores and businesses, it stretches from Terry Fox Drive, Kanata Avenue, and Campeau Drive to Palladium Drive and Katimavik Road, bordering Eagleson Road.

All businesses located in commercial properties within the Kanata Central BIA coverage area are automatically members of the Kanata Central BIA.

BIA Structure

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Generally, Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) are managed by a volunteer Board of Management elected by their members. Board members are nominated at the Annual General Meeting and, once approved by Ottawa City Council, serve a four-year term that aligns with the Council’s term.

The Board acts on behalf of the BIA, meeting regularly to develop budgets, set priorities, implement capital improvements, plan events, and promote the business district. Using their own funds, BIAs work to attract more customers by enhancing the area’s appeal and promoting it as an ideal place to shop, visit, and conduct business.

MEET THE BOARD

The Kanata Central BIA is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors, supported by two City Councilors, a full-time Executive Director, and a Marketing Officer.
