Phoebe, owner of Banh Mi Yes, came to Canada 15 years ago as an international student and quickly realized she missed one big thing from home… Food. In Vietnam, banh mi sandwiches are everywhere, eaten for breakfast, lunch, or a quick snack.
“I tried to find that taste once again, but I couldn’t find it (here in Canada), so I started to do something at home, just to see how I could do it… And one time everyone loved it, and that’s how I decided to start a business.” Said Phoebe.
“It’s not easy to do it. We had to change the recipe, adjust the ingredients little by little, because the weather and temperature here are completely different from Vietnam. But we never gave up, and now about 90% of our customers say we have authentic Vietnamese bread,” Phoebe says.
“We present the tray very nicely with the food description and then we do all the adjustments that you request. Everything we do freshly in the morning, I promise everything is fresh. And we offer free delivery within Kanata,” she says.
The menu is full of variety, with options for everyone: beef (halal), chicken, pork, vegetarian, and the classic Banh Mi with homemade pâté, mayo, pickled carrot, and ham. Everything is made in-house and cooked fresh daily. Beyond sandwiches, Banh Mi Yes also serves salad bowls with vermicelli noodles and sticky rice. All fresh, tasty, and full of authentic Vietnamese flavours.
